Assam Govt Pre-Matric & Post-Matric Scholarships for SC & OBC Students for 2025-26: Applications Open

The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC), Assam, has officially announced the commencement of the application process for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for the academic year 2025–26. The initiative aims to support students from economically weaker sections within the SC and OBC communities, helping them continue their education without financial burden.

Applications are invited through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for both Fresh and Renewal cases. Students must apply online and complete the required verification process before the due dates.

📚 Scholarship Schemes Covered

The following five schemes are included under this announcement:

  1. Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students (Class IX & X) – Component I

  2. Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students of Parents/Guardians Engaged in Unclean Occupations (Class I to X) – Component II

  3. Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students

  4. Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students (Class IX & X)

  5. Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students

📌 Eligibility Criteria & Required Documents

🔹 For Pre & Post-Matric Scholarships (SC & OBC Students):

  • Caste Certificate: Only SC and OBC community students are eligible. The caste certificate must be issued by the Office of the District Commissioner of the respective district.

  • Annual Income Certificate: Annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per annum. The certificate must be issued by the Circle Officer of the respective revenue circle.

  • Bonafide Certificate: Must be obtained from the Head of the Institution.

🔹 For Pre-Matric Scholarships to SC Students (Component II - Unclean Occupations):

  • No income ceiling applies.

  • Unclean Occupation Certificate must be issued by the District Social Welfare Office, Local Body, or other authority designated by the State Government.

  • Bonafide Certificate is also required from the Head of the Institution.

📝 Application Instructions for Students

  1. Registration via NSP OTR App:
    Students must register through the NSP OTR app, available on the Google Play Store. The app requires Face Authentication to generate a unique One-Time Registration (OTR) number, which is now mandatory for all scholarship applications.

  2. Aadhaar Linking Mandatory:
    Aadhaar number and mobile number registered with Aadhaar are required. In the case of minors, Aadhaar of a parent is mandatory if the student doesn’t have one.

  3. Bank Account Requirement:
    Students must provide active bank account details that are Aadhaar-seeded. This ensures timely disbursement via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. The authorities are not liable for delays or failures due to incorrect or inactive bank details.

  4. Common Conditions for Fresh and Renewal:
    The same eligibility and document requirements apply to both fresh applicants and those renewing their scholarships.
